The Power of Pentecost - Nothing Can Stand Against It

What does the Power of Pentecost mean to you as a believer? Have you been empowered? Really empowered?

Nothing can stand against the power of the Holy Spirit and He Lives in you! The problem today is most Christians don't realize or understand what our Lord has provided us with. This post will attempt to give you a better understanding so you can become really empowered.

This power is for you, without it in the days ahead you will be in a position of great peril. Look at what the Lord is saying to you in these two verses.

Matthew 17:20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Luke 17:6 So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

If you are truly a born again believer you have been endued with Power in the Holy Spirit.

What kind of power am I talking about? Everyone probably knows the disciples were sent out to heal the sick, cast out demons,  raise the dead, cleanse the Lepers and tell them the Kingdom of Heaven has come to them. We all should be doing this today.

More examples:

  1. Gideon’s Valiant Three Hundred who defeated the Midianites - (Judges 7)
  2. The destruction of Jericho - (Joshua 6) Hebrews 11:30 says by faith the walls fell down
  3. Just two of Judah's brethren, Simeon and Levi, destroyed the city of Shechem, and the seven cities of the Amorites by themselves in the power of God.
  4. In present day tornadoes have been stopped, hurricanes turned, battles won
Retaining and maintaining this Power requires abiding in Christ. It is in direct proportion to your relationship with Him.
  • By reading the Holy Scripture daily and believing while standing on the truth of His Word
  • By fellow-shipping with Christ through prayer and praise daily
  • By praying for His knowledge and power daily
  • By praying for discernment and guidance daily
  • By being His best friend and involving Him in everything you do, including general conversations
Today this power Lives in you, in the Old Testament the believers knew the Word, stood firm on it without wavering and were endued with God's Power by following His instructions exactly.
Christ made a spectacle out of the principalities and powers of evil and continues to do so today through the church. You are the church, your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, by the Holy Spirit living in you comes forth the power to move mountains.

God is love, out of His love for you this power manifests! He said He would never leave you nor forsake you, all you have to do is believe!

Ephesians 3:10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Colossians 2:15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

NOTE: In Matthew 17 and Luke 17 listed above, notice the action required on your part to move the mountain and the tree is; 'you will say to' and 'you can say to', and it will obey you, doing what you have commanded.

My personal testimonies of this power: (Shared only to glorify God) These were very special events in my life)

My family and I were in our storm shelter on May 31, 2013 during a tornado outbreak in Oklahoma. There were multiple tornadoes associated with the largest one ever recorded in size, with a 2.6 mile wide funnel on the ground, an EF5, at El Reno, Oklahoma.

We were hit by an associated tornado rated at EF1; when our ears popped we new it had arrived, I immediately rebuked the tornado in Jesus Name and commanded it to dissipate! It immediately obeyed and dissipated as stated in Matthew and Luke above.

How close did it get? Tree top level; it twisted the top out of our neighbors backyard tree and dropped it when it dissipated on our power supply line ripping all our power connections off the back of our house.

During the Vietnam war He made me invisible to my enemies standing 8 feet away during a face to face encounter.

During my flying career when I got caught in weather with no place to land, He cleared the weather and provided a road with my name on it for a landing. Read my testimony here.

The mature believer knows His God intimately, inhabits His love and understands the power given by God for His purpose. (Meaning God's purpose) Some of us get saved but fail to grow beyond the milk and honey stage.

The Bible story about Joseph being reunited with his brothers provides an opportunity to see this power in action before Pentecost.  (This account is covered in Genesis 44 and 45; This story is also related in the Book of Jasher, Chapter 54)

Many believe the book of Jasher was removed from the Bible by the early church to tone down and abbreviate this story along with many others. The Genesis account is brief when compared to the Jasher account; the Jasher account brings out the emotions, passions, and absolute power of God.

If believers understood this power today the world governments power over the people would crumble into a non existent status. Satan doesn't want you to discover this power and the governments of this world along with many churches work under his direction.

My view:
The King James Version of the Bible is the standard for what is considered to be the Biblical Canon. The book of Jasher is to be considered 'extra Biblical' but aligns with the Biblical content. In addition to being aligned with Scripture it is also referenced as a source of information in Scripture. The day the sun stood still would make for another good comparison study. (See Joshua and 2 Samuel below)

Joshua 10:13 So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.

2 Samuel 1:18 and he told them to teach the children of Judah the Song of the Bow; indeed it is written in the Book of Jasher:

The reunion of Joseph and his brothers:

Jasher Chapter 54

1. And when Judah saw the dealings of Joseph with them, Judah approached him and broke open the door, and came with his brethren before Joseph.

2. And Judah said unto Joseph, Let it not seem grievous in the sight of my lord, may thy servant I pray thee speak a word before thee? and Joseph said unto him, Speak.

3. And Judah spoke before Joseph, and his brethren were there standing before them; and Judah said unto Joseph, Surely when we first came to our lord to buy food, thou didst consider us as spies of the land, and we brought Benjamin before thee, and thou still makest sport of us this day.

4. Now therefore let the king hear my words, and send I pray thee our brother that he may go along with us to our father, lest thy soul perish this day with all the souls of the inhabitants of Egypt.

5. Dost thou not know what two of my brethren, Simeon and Levi, did unto the city of Shechem, and unto seven cities of the Amorites, on account of our sister Dinah, and also what they would do for the sake of their brother Benjamin?

6. And I with my strength, who am greater and mightier than both of them, come this day upon thee and thy land if thou art unwilling to send our brother.

7. Hast thou not heard what our God who made choice of us did unto Pharaoh on account of Sarah our mother, whom he took away from our father, that he smote him and his household with heavy plagues, that even unto this day the Egyptians relate this wonder to each other? so will our God do unto thee on account of Benjamin whom thou hast this day taken from his father, and on account of the evils which thou this day heapest over us in thy land; for our God will remember his covenant with our father Abraham and bring evil upon thee, because thou hast grieved the soul of our father this day.

8. Now therefore hear my words that I have this day spoken unto thee, and send our brother that he may go away lest thou and the people of thy land die by the sword, for you cannot all prevail over me.

In this account the passion comes out.
  • Verse 1 Judah broke open Josephs door
  • Verse 4 Judah tells Joseph if he fails to release Benjamin that he along with all of Egypt will perish this day
  • Verse 5 Judah reminds Joseph the his brothers Simeon and Levi destroyed 8 cities because of their sister Dinah
  • Verse 6 Judah claims he is stronger and mightier than both of them
  • Verse 8 Judah tells Joseph unless Benjamin goes with them that he and all of Egypt will die by the sword

Jasher Chapter 54 cont.

38. And Judah said, Behold, I will destroy three of the streets with my strength, and you shall each destroy one street; and when Judah was speaking this thing, behold the inhabitants of Egypt and all the mighty men came toward them with all sorts of musical instruments and with loud shouting.

39. And their number was five hundred cavalry and ten thousand infantry, and four hundred men who could fight without sword or spear, only with their hands and strength.

40. And all the mighty men came with great storming and shouting, and they all surrounded the sons of Jacob and terrified them, and the ground quaked at the sound of their shouting.

41. And when the sons of Jacob saw these troops they were greatly afraid of their lives, and Joseph did so in order to terrify the sons of Jacob to become tranquilized.

42. And Judah, seeing some of his brethren terrified, said unto them, Why are you afraid whilst the grace of God is with us? and when Judah saw all the people of Egypt surrounding them at the command of Joseph to terrify them, only Joseph commanded them, saying, Do not touch any of them.

43. Then Judah hastened and drew his sword, and uttered a loud and bitter scream, and he smote with his sword, and he sprang upon the ground and he still continued to shout against all the people.

44. And when he did this thing the Lord caused the terror of Judah and his brethren to fall upon the valiant men and all the people that surrounded them.

45. And they all fled at the sound of the shouting, and they were terrified and fell one upon the other, and many of them died as they fell, and they all fled from before Judah and his brethren and from before Joseph.

46. And whilst they were fleeing, Judah and his brethren pursued them unto the house of Pharaoh, and they all escaped, and Judah again sat before Joseph and roared at him like a lion, and gave a great and tremendous shriek at him.

47. And the shriek was heard at a distance, and all the inhabitants of Succoth heard it, and all Egypt quaked at the sound of the shriek, and also the walls of Egypt and of the land of Goshen fell in from the shaking of the earth, and Pharaoh also fell from his throne upon the ground, and also all the pregnant women of Egypt and Goshen miscarried when they heard the noise of the shaking, for they were terribly afraid.

48. And Pharaoh sent word, saying, What is this thing that has this day happened in the land of Egypt? and they came and told him all the things from beginning to end, and Pharaoh was alarmed and he wondered and was greatly afraid.

49. And his fright increased when he heard all these things, and he sent unto Joseph, saying, Thou hast brought unto me the Hebrews to destroy all Egypt; what wilt thou do with that thievish slave? send him away and let him go with his brethren, and let us not perish through their evil, even we, you and all Egypt.

50. And if thou desirest not to do this thing, cast off from thee all my valuable things, and go with them to their land, if thou delightest in it, for they will this day destroy my whole country and slay all my people; even all the women of Egypt have miscarried through their screams; see what they have done merely by their shouting and speaking, moreover if they fight with the sword, they will destroy the land; now therefore choose that which thou desirest, whether me or the Hebrews, whether Egypt or the land of the Hebrews.

51. And they came and told Joseph all the words of Pharaoh that he had said concerning him, and Joseph was greatly afraid at the words of Pharaoh and Judah and his brethren were still standing before Joseph indignant and enraged, and all the sons of Jacob roared at Joseph, like the roaring of the sea and its waves.

52. And Joseph was greatly afraid of his brethren and on account of Pharaoh, and Joseph sought a pretext to make himself known unto his brethren, lest they should destroy all Egypt,

In this account more passion comes out. (God terrorizes all of Egypt through Judah's loud and bitter scream)
  • Verse 38 Judah declares what he will destroy
  • Verse 39 Joseph's five hundred cavalry and ten thousand infantry, and four hundred men who could fight without sword or spear came on the scene
  • Verse 40 Joseph's mighty men came with great storming and shouting, and they all surrounded the sons of Jacob and terrified them
  • Verse 42 Judah, seeing some of his brethren terrified, said unto them, Why are you afraid whilst the grace of God is with us?
  • Verse 43 Then Judah hastened and drew his sword, and uttered a loud and bitter scream, and he smote with his sword
  • Verse 44 The Lord caused the terror of Judah and his brethren to fall upon the valiant men and all the people that surrounded them
  • Verse 45 And they all fled at the sound of the shouting, and they were terrified
  • Verse 46 Judah again sat before Joseph and roared at him like a lion, and gave a great and tremendous shriek at him.
  • Verse 47 Egypt's walls fell down, women miscarried, and Pharaoh fell off his throne
  • Remaining verses basically state Pharaoh and all of Egypt were terrified - Pharaoh gave instruction to give Judah whatever he wants before all Egypt is destroyed.
Get a PDF copy of the Book of Jasher and read the rest of this story.

The power of God availed to His believers is proclaimed in the Book of Jasher but is left out of the Genesis account.

In the Genesis account we see several conversations between Judah and Joseph quickly leading to their reunion. Many feel this type of omission was planned by the early church, when the Biblical Canon was constructed out of hundreds of manuscripts, to keep the knowledge of God's power out of the hands of the common man.

Once you experience this power you will never want to be without it.
