Where did the saying 'what goes around comes around' originate? I'll go with Biblical teaching although many others might connect it to other sources.
So what does it mean, 'what goes around comes around'? We reap the consequences of our words and actions within our own lives. We live in a circle of events and during our lifetime we complete many circuits, some circuits are good and some are not so good.
If you feel like you are just running in circles it's because you are; it's what you do during the run that makes life interesting. Everything is in a circle/circuit; for example, I am on my 73rd trip around the Sun and wondering what new discoveries I'll observe during this circuit.
The circle of life
The circuits:
Isaiah 40:21-23
21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
Psalm 19:6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
Every soul is in His hand and every breath you draw in life comes from Him!
Job 12:9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?
10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
He intends that your circuits be smooth, filled with joy and enlightenment; a race well run from start to finish.
To obtain what He has planned for your circuits requires a few simple actions on your part, they are:
- Joshua 22:5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the Lord charged you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
- Psalm 150:6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
Everything goes full circle, everything you do to others comes back to you at some point. If you don't like what is coming back look into a mirror and make some adjustments to what you are giving out.
Luke 6:31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Leviticus 24:19 ‘If a man causes disfigurement of his neighbor, as he has done, so shall it be done to him—
Leviticus 24:20 fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; as he has caused disfigurement of a man, so shall it be done to him.
Obadiah 1:15 “For the day of the Lord upon all the nations is near; As you have done, it shall be done to you; Your reprisal shall return upon your own head.
Advice from the Lord.
Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
If your life seems caught up in a vicious circle, repent and depart from the viciousness you are giving out and get back to the three bullet items listed above.
The Lord is full of mercy and forgiveness - He can and will fix broken hearts and spirits.
If you focus on Him you will have joy in the midst of chaos. He will be your strong tower of protection and provision for all that you have need of.
Our world is coming apart at the seams, don't get caught up in it as our redemption is drawing close. Look up and rejoice. He told us in His Word this was coming and has assured us He is in control.
Chaos, murder, and deceit is everywhere you look except for those who are looking to Jesus.
Psalm 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Heavens promise
2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
The worlds promise is more of this.
Romans 1:28-30 King James Version (KJV)
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Full circle summary
Obadiah 1:15 “For the day of the Lord upon all the nations is near; As you have done, it shall be done to you; Your reprisal shall return upon your own head.
This says it all but there is more to the story when you look into eternity.
Heavens promise is for those who are forgiven; in this life He prepares a table for you in the midst of your enemies and anoints you to overflowing; in the life to come you will be dwelling in righteousness FOREVER! With Him! FOREVER!
For those who have thrown God out; in this life they receive the same as they have dished out to others, but it doesn't end there. In eternity they will experience all that they dished out to others over and over again FOREVER!
If you know anyone who has thrown God out pray for them before it's too late, they really have no clue about what lies ahead.
Pray
Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
